Dementia Dog is a research project looking at the benefits dogs can bring to people with dementia. Dementia Dog has been working with experts in dog abilities, to find safe and reliable ways to support and enable people with dementia, to thrive and live more independent lives.
It began as a group service design concept from one of my projects at the Glasgow School of Art. Since then it has received funding from the Design Council and Scottish Government; is running a full assistance dog pilot service in Forfar (Scotland) and an intervention dog pilot in Kilmarnock (Scotland).
I have been working as the Dementia Dog project designer since September 2012, and have been responsible for the project’s service blueprint, delivery, brand development, print materials and website.
